Sushi Yan is one of my go to sushi spots whenever I crave Japanese cuisine because of its fresh ingredients, kind service, reasonable pricing in the Robson area. Hard to find a place in downtown able to accommodate you quickly especially during busy periods!
MoreThis place has a cool vibe and the sushi was amazing. The service was very slow considering there were only 2 other tables there but when it did come it was amazing.
MoreNice hidden gem for good unpretentious food. Our party of 13 including 7 kids did not have a reservation and we were catered for without any issues. Ordered food for the hangry kids first and they arrived quickly and servings were huge with reasonable prices. Great find.
MoreGreat food. Place kinda smells like cat pee.
Have a good service.
Sushi was wonderful! Quick and friendly service.
Good food, not too expensive.
Great food downstairs!
I had a small bottle of sakai and was waiting for my food, but the food took ages and I've already finished the sakai when the sushi arrived. Tasty sushi but needs to improve on service.
MoreYou know it’s a good Japanese restaurant if Japanese people eat here! Great price for quality seafood. Glad we found this place.I got a house salad, dressing was nice and fresh, almost like a purée with sesame oil and garlic and soy. Poured over a bed of romaine lettuce, cucumber, tomato, red cabbage and shredded carrot. BBQ eel was delicious and a good size portion for $8. Also the Maki was superb, 24 pieces of cucumber, tuna and salmon for $8. I was stuffed.Matt got a sashimi plate of tuna and salmon that came with large chunks of fish on a beautifully displayed bed of shredded daikon, carrots and slices of cucumber. Our total was only $40 and we were both satisfied with our light dinner.
MoreFriendly staff, good food, and it’s not too busy most of the time.
I really like the Japanese food of this Restaurant. The best one around, in my opinion. Price is very reasonable. The sushi is always fresh and tasty. I recommend trying the salmon roll adding cream cheese and deep fried, it’s delicious.
MorePretty good hidden gem. Would definitely go back again.
Great sushi and sashimi served quickly, highly recommended
Came here twice. The first time, the waiter got our order wrong and we had to wait an extra 30 minutes. The second time, the teriyaki we ordered was waaaay too bland and the beef was overcooked. Overall not that great of an experience.
MoreThis place is tucked away on a back corner of a building, down some stairs. I was a little skeptical walking in there, but it's actually a cute little place. The server didn't come over to us until we had put our menus down. Then when we did order the food took so long to come out. It's a good thing I had great company otherwise I would have been upset. I ordered the spring roll (its on special on Wednesdays) white snow and agadashi tofu, spicy. The rolls were great, though they weren't super fresh. She forgot to bring out the tofu until after I'd already finished my rolls. And I assume she warmed them in the microwave because she quickly ran into the back to grabbed them and they were pipping hot. I honestly didn't even eat them. My brother was also sick after he ate some gyoza and yam tempura. Not sure what did him in though. I probably won't ever be back here for that reason alone.
MoreStopped in while heading toward Burrard Station and was starving. I went through the menu with the waitress asking about vegan options. She confirmed the seaweed roll was vegan, and then it was served with mayonnaise. I was so hungry that I didn't realize until after I was over halfway done, at which point I flagged her down. She confirmed it was mayonnaise and took away the plate, and asked if I wanted anything else. I said no. Despite serving me products I was diligent in advoiding, they didn't offer any discount or even remove the item from my bill. I felt sick after eating eggs in many years. I can't say I'll be back here given the abundance of sushi restaurants that respect dietary restrictions.
MoreDelicious food, good service and good price can't ask for more.
Freshest Sushi menu in Vancouver! The foodhere is consistently freshly served and that’s why I return here time after time with my husband. The sushi boxes are my favourite! Great variety of selection, and the best chicken tempura in all of the vancouver sushi restaurants I’ve been in and I’ve been in them all. Good value for money, unpretentious, friendly warm service, cozy space.
MoreHighly recommend. Very tasty and satisfying. Rolls don't fall apart. The ingredients organically complement each other. The staff is very friendly. Waiters are always there if you need something.
MoreJust had some of the best prepared sashimi I've had in Vancouver at a reasonable price. Can't speak to the rest of the food, but for my first experience here, it was great. I'll give it another shot for more of the menu.
MoreThe restaurant is well located, the food was good and the service Ok, but the physical restaurant itself was a bit under what I would expect for a japaness restaurant standards.
MoreDelicious dishes and fair price. The customer service was good as well. The place is not so busy at the lunch time, great for have a calm lunch. The pictures on the menu are terrible hahaha, but the real meal is shine and great. I'll come back for sure and recommend.
MoreMy go-to place for a cheap & delicious sushi lunch when I am in Vancouver. Great quality sushi at amazing prices. Great value.
MoreGreat social distance table arrangement, all the staff wore masks, and the menu was available online. The miso soup had lots of tofu, seaweed, and green onions. The broth itself was more watery than creamy or salty. The nigiri was tender and good portions. The Summer roll was good; the smoked salmon flavour overwhelmed the rest of the flavours in the roll unfortunately.
MoreSushi Yan is my favourite sushi restaurant in Vancouver - It's one of the few I keep coming back to whenever I'm in town. It's in a convenient location, and I enjoy the vibe being in a cozy semi-basement. The food is tasty and reasonably priced, the place is clean, and service is decent. Would recommend.
MoreOne of their servers was really kind! I'd like a set with salmon sushi (nigiri) but they didn't have, so a server recommended a set of salmon&avocado roll with smiling. It was good deal with reasonable price and I was totally satisfied!
MoreSecond time I get there one hour before closing time and they say it's already closed.
MoreHidden gem. Snappy tempura, good teriyaki chicken, top, fresh sushi.
Local low key sushi place with good food. It's not an upscale place but the food makes up for it.
MoreNo complaints. Every cook to service takes time. Very good food. Two thumbs up. Great service.
MoreClose to my work, so I have been many times for convenience factor and speed. Cheap sushi. Lowest price decent lunch in area if u get a don buri. The service can b a little slow as they r understaffed for the lunch rush. It’s in the basement level if that’s an issue for u. Basically a decent cheap place to get a quick lunch.
MoreIt was good experience what I expected.
Food quality is impeccable, service and wait times are rough. Do not come here if only have 30 minutes. After ordering took just under 35 minutes to get the food at about 30% capacity.
MoreGreat place to eat. Prices are ok comparing to food you get. Nothing too fancy. Avg price and good food, environment is ok, 3 stars.
MoreSuch a great little restaurant. We enjoyed every dish and every bite! I will be going again in the future.
MoreWe were visiting from Ottawa and found this place. We were not sure what we were going to get as we are use to all you can eat. The rolls are bigger than what we normally get but it was delicious. Service was good and the price seems very reasonable. I would return if I'm in the city again and wanted sushi.
MoreThe bento boxes are fantastic and gives you a chance to try many different delicious things. The dynamite roll was also fantastic!
MoreVery good food and service here. Would have given it 5 stars except there was a fly hovering around our table and some food on the floor. Good place to bring kids though. Fun game to play with little ones while you wait for your food: count all the cats on the walls :-)
MoreGood food. Decent price.
Lovely staff, warm ambiance, great food
It wasn't crowded on a rainy day. The rolls were fresh and fantastic. Can't comment on any other foods.
MoreDelicious food, great service, and seedy service to boot! What more could you ask for from an hidden gem tucked just off Robson st! Definitely will be eating here again👌
MoreUnimpressed. The salmon looked and tasted off. Will probably never eat here again.
MoreWe walked in by chance, and were surprised with the delicious food. Try the rainbow roll, prawn tempura. Good prices too. Visited 3 times, ordered different things and we all liked it.
MoreBeen hosting meetups there for a while. Has capacity large groups the largest we hosted being 26. Good sushi and good times.
MoreThe food is delicious but they take a very long time to prepare it. So, if you are in a rush, is not a good idea.
MoreMy current favourite sushi place. Not a fan of their interiors but I catch myself getting take out here almost every week now. Super fresh with a very fair price. Any of their speciality rolls are my go-to choices.
MoreAuthentic Japanese experience. Prices were very good for the amount of food given. Food quality and service were both excellent.
